Graham Barker
I started SCUBA diving back in 1996 learning through the British Sub-Aqua Club diver training programme. My interest in photography goes back many years before with the recording of my walking, and occasional mountaineering exploits, mainly in the UK.
I’ve always viewed myself as a fairly enthusiastic amateur, although my photographs are merely there to record the moment for personal pleasure and memories! I have never had any ‘visions of grandeur’ where my photography lies - although I have had many compliments over the years!
The purpose of this website is merely a repository of, what I think are my better - mainly underwater - images, although there are some ‘scene setting’ images. They are here for my friends, and anyone else who is interested, to view easily. I could use a ‘commercial’ site, but at least this way I have control of how, and what, gets displayed, and there aren’t any adverts!! I hope that you enjoy the images!
The Cameras
Just a quick word about the cameras used - many, many people say that a digital SLR is the only way to capture decent images underwater - I accept that they have a point, especially if the images are for ‘professional/commercial’ use. As my image taking is just for a personal, ‘recording the moment’ use, I have only invested in reasonable quality, Panasonic, point-and-shoot compact cameras. To me, they seem to fit the bill for what I want, and I won’t cry too much if I ever flood the camera housing!
