Myanmar 2011 - The journey to Macleod Island

So, after a few days in Phuket recovering from the flight, a speedy 5 hour road trip through Thailand  saw us in the border town of Ranong. Passports stamped, we then boarded, via an extremely pungent set of steps (and river!) into two long-tail river boats. These narrow boats would tip alarmingly at the slightest movement! We journeyed down the river and across open-water to the Myanmar border town of Kawthuang. Here, leaving our passports behind at the customs post, we boarded our sleek speed boat for the two hour twilight sail to Macleod Island.
